Who are Carlosh and Sarlena ?
Carlosh and Sarlena .
Location:
Mozambique, Inhambane Province, Unguana
Sector:
Semi – commercial farming
Carlosh is 79 years old and Sarlena 71 year’s .They had 9 children , but 2 died . The one was still small , but the other one was already 15 years . Both got sick and then died .All the children are out of the house now . It is only Carlosh and Sarlena and 9 grandchildren who stay at their house now .
The family owns 3 cattle, 2 pigs , 11 chickens , 2 mango trees, 5 coconut trees, 3 citrus trees, 6 avocado trees and 50 Cashew nut trees. They have got 4.5 ha of land, of which 2 ha are de-bushed and on which they plant maize, peanuts, sorghum and beans. They are very positive to work with AgriServi to change their piece of land into a semi-commercial farm.
Happy Story – It made them very happy when the grandchildren started to come back home . One of the children also sends money to build a house of bricks for Carlosh and Sarlena that made very happy .
Sad Story - They started building the house of their dreams with money that their one child send for them, but before it could be finished , a big wind came and destroy it completely .
Never forget Story - Carlosh and his brother were still small boys when their father left their mother for other women . The new wife never wanted Carlosh and his brother and they stayed with their mother . When they became a little bigger , they helped their mother to make a nice house . They were all thinki9ng that his father would then come back to them . When they were finish , they invited him to come and visit , but instead of being happy , he got such a big shock that he immediately left . He also left the new wife and went to another country . He stayed there until his death . Carlosh only knew that he died , because he saw in a dream . He will never forget that .
Dream for the area: Carlosh and Sarlena agrees that if they would receive a lot of money to spend on agriculture for the area , they would buy a lot of extra cattle to pull ploughs and then make it available for free to everyone . They would also try to give fresh water for all houses . They would just continue to de-bush the area and then help people to plant more crops.
Their own dream: Their own dream is the same than their dream for the area .They would first use some money to help them to de-bush more of their land. They would then plough it and plant more maize. They understand the concept of semi-commercial farming and would like to change their land into a semi-commercial farm.
Present income: They cannot calculate any income . They have only got their food and never sell anything ..

Project Name:
Unguana - Re-build the brick house for Carlos Stitch and his family
Carlosh and Sarlena in the back ground , with the fallen house in front .
Description:
The re-building of the house of Carlosh and Sarlena is more of a “heart thing “than being a necessity. The children of this family raised the money to help their parents to build a house with bricks, which have been their dream for many years. They started building the house, but before it could be finished, a cyclone hits the area and their house were down to foundation level again. AgriServi noticed the hearts of the 2 people involved and decided to investigate the possibility to build this house up again. The house is 7.5 x 5 m = 37.5 m2. The house is divided into a front room and 2 sleeping rooms.
The family will do most of the work by themselves and the AgriServi team will manage the project to make 1000 blocks, build-up proper pillars and ring beams. A builder with 3 helpers will be employed for 25 days and the AgriServi team will assist for 5 working days. They will need 50 bags of cement and 45 x 6 meter round bar , 4 windows , 2 doors and a front door , wire , nails , corrugated iron sheets , roof planks , and some diverse items .
