There are 60 registered subsistence farmers in the 3 targeted areas in the Inhambane Province in Mozambique. Agriservi believes that all of them have got the potential to become semi-commercial farmers. The first assistance that they would need is for de-bushing, water supply, fencing of their property and the incorporating of live-stock into their farming enterprise. This project is registered for a 10 pig system for any farmer in any of the areas of Mabote, Unguana or Pambara. The demand for pork meat is very high and at least some knowledge about caring for pigs exists. A 10-pig system is a permanent, properly fenced 1 hectare area that is divided into 4 smaller camps with a cement water-trough in each camp and gates between each adjacent camp. Each camp is then planted with different crops in which the pigs graze in a varied way. The system also supplies the first 10 small female pigs and 2 male pigs.
