Who are Thomas and Saucia ?
Thomas Mashava .
Thomas Mashava, 48 years old and his wife Saucia have been living in the Pambara area for all their lives and even their parents lived there and was born their. They have got 8 children and 2 other family members and 3 workers who eat from their house every day . Thomas does not fir the normal profile of someone that needs help , but sometimes it helps to make the strong even more strong if you want to influence all the poor people that surround them everyday . The couple are already the centre of hope for the surrounding area . Whenever they make a profit , the money flow back into one or other project that can benifit the community.
The family owns 15 chickens, 9 turkeys, 29 mango trees, 12 coconut trees,50 banana plants, 16 papaya trees , 6 citrus trees and 9 Cashew nut trees. They plant a lot of vegetables and then their normal maize , beans , soya and sorghum.They have got 20 ha of land of which 12 hectare are de-bushed. They are very positive to work with AgriServi to change their piece of land into a semi-commercial farm.
Happy Story –It makes them happy to be able to help other people .
Sad Story - During the floods of 2000 , they lost everything and had no food .
Dream for the area: Thomas and Saucia agrees that if they would receive a lot of money to spend on agriculture for the area , they would pump water from the river to all people and then open up a lot more land for planting . They would also like to lead the area into more formal cattle farming and even milk production .
Their own dream: Their own dream is the same that their dream fir the area.
Present income: They earn more or less USD 200 tom USD 500 / year plus the food for their themselves and their dependants and all people who need their help with food.
